THE DUCHESS
OF CAMBRIDGE has confirmed that she is expecting her second
child.
"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are
very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting
their second child," a spokesperson for the Palace confirmed this
morning. "The
Queen and members of both families are delighted with the
news."
The Duchess has not yet reached "the crucial 12-week stage," the
Palace confirmed today, but - as with Prince George - releasing the
information early became necessary when the Duchess became unwell.
She is thought to be due to give birth in early April.
"As with her first pregnancy, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis
Gravidarum," the spokesperson revealed. "Her Royal Highness will no
longer accompany The Duke of
Cambridge on their planned engagement in Oxford today. The
Duchess is being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace."
Betting on the baby's name began today in earnest, with James
the most popular boy's name at Ladbrokes and Elizabeth the most
popular choice for a girl. Whether or not Catherine will progress
with her planned visit to Malta - her first solo trip on behalf of
the Queen - later this month has not yet been revealed.
