2015: Adefarasin Urges Nigerians to Rise against Corrupt Politicians.

Ahead of the 2015 general election in the country, the Senior Pastor and Metropolitan Head of House on the Rock Churches, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, has cautioned political office holders to desist from abusing public trust and denigrating their offices, urging Nigerians from all walks of life to rise up against acts of impunity and cases of naked display of corruption in Nigeria.
Adefarasin gave the charge while speaking during the unveiling of - a multi-million naira mega church edifice, Citadel & Towers, House on the Rock, The Refuge in Abuja. He revealed that “a new generation of Nigerians is coming and will change the status quo from deliberate act of corruption to sanctity.”
“We must rise up against those who use public offices for private or self aggrandisement. I charge you all, in the words of an illustrious president of the United States of America, Mr. Franklyn D. Roosevelt, who declared and I quote, ‘In the days of difficulty, we (Nigerians) everywhere must and shall choose the path of social justice...the path of faith, the path of hope, and the path of love toward our fellow man.’
“Even so, let us build a great Nigeria whose Architect and Designer is the Almighty God.”
Furthermore, church leaders across Nigeria were lampooned at the event by the Director-General of Institute of National Transformation (INT) in Abuja‎, Prof. Vincent Anigbogu.
Anigbogu, who gave the key-note address and spoke on the topic, ‘The Church and National Transformation’, blamed most of the problems bedeviling the nation on the failure of church leader’s and pastors to play their role in nation-building and rise to the occasion.
“He stated that religion cannot be separated from politics, adding that the two are inter-twined, hence must work hand-in-hand to achieve total transformation.
President Goodluck Jonathan was represented at the event by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina. Nigeria’s first vice president‎, Dr. Alex Ekwueme; Bishop David Abioye of Winners Chapel; Pastor Paul Eneche of Dunamis Church; and other eminent clergymen and politicians were equally present.
