Adeboye condemns abortion, backs family planning
GENERAL Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Adejare Adeboye, yesterday again condemned abortion, declaring that God frowns at it in any form.
Adeboye, while praying for pregnant women at the headquarters of RCCG, The Throne of Grace, Ebute-Metta, said through his Special Assistant on Administration and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola that, “The Holy Bible is very clear on abortion. Abortion is ungodly, it is unbiblical and the Church’s stand on abortion is clear: it is unacceptable. God is not against family planning but God is against abortion”, he added.
The cleric noted that there are several methods of family planning that would completely prevent formation of a baby.
“I do not need to go into details as medical practitioners would always explain to parents who want to go into family planning after getting the number of children they desire. But after a life is formed and is terminated, that is clearly against God’s will and the couple would be held accountable with a charge not less than murder.
Adeboye also explained that doctors and couples can look up to God for divine intervention when it appears that the life of an expectant mother is in danger instead of quickly concluding that the life of the baby should be terminated to save the life of the mother.
“There have been similar serious cases in the Church that the mother ended up giving birth to such babies and this is where miracles come in. If we can trust God, He is able to reverse the situation and the mother of the baby would deliver safely without getting the baby aborted and the baby would also live.
“Medical is terrestrial, which is a low terrain of knowledge, while a miracle, which is divine is celestial, which means God can do anything.
When the life of a mother is in danger, we simply pray and the God of miracle, who created life in the first instance, would intervene.
The cleric advised that mothers should take care of their children, sleep well and avoid stress.
“Everywhere there is life, there is noise because children would play and fight and the irony of it is that one of the biggest headaches in the home where there are no children is ‘silence’.
“Therefore, mothers should not bother themselves with their children’s noise at home because it is normal for a home where there is joy to be filled with noise of kid fighting and pulling each other’s leg.
“Mothers should, therefore, avoid unnecessary stress but joyfully commit their children unto God and look up unto Him for proper training according to His will.
He prayed that every expectant mother would deliver safely, while those that are looking up to God for children would be answered.
