Adeboye condemns abortion, backs family planning

Image
Adeboye condemns abortion, backs family planning     GENERAL Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Adejare Adeboye, yesterday again condemned abortion, declaring that God frowns at it in any form.  Adeboye, while praying for pregnant women at the headquarters of RCCG, The Throne of Grace, Ebute-Metta, said through his Special Assistant on Administration and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola that, “The Holy Bible is very clear on abortion. Abortion is ungodly, it is unbiblical and the Church’s stand on abortion is clear: it is unacceptable. God is not against family planning but God is against abortion”, he added.   The cleric noted that there are several methods of family planning that would completely prevent formation of a baby.   “I do not need to go into details as medical practitioners would always explain to parents who want to go into family planning after getting the number of children they desire. Eagles Must Win in South Africa, Says Keshi

Image
Eagles Must Win in South Africa, Says Keshi                    CAN 2015  QUALIFIED Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, has said his team is now pressed to win in South Africa on Wednesday after the African champions fell 3-2 at home to Congo last Saturday. South Africa is top of Group A of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying stage after the Bafana Bafana won 3-0 in Sudan on Friday and they welcome the Nigeria in Cape Town midweek. Keshi has now called for support while hoping the Super Eagles could redeem themselves in South Africa on Wednesday. “It’s football. Brazil lost 7-1 and we lost (on Saturday). Everybody is going to lose someday. We cannot win all the games all the time. This is where we need the media and Nigerians. They have to be behind the team, so that we can go to South Africa and win,” said a disappointed Keshi. “I’m very disappointed. It was not just the result but the way we played in the first half. I was like a soothsayer bec

Europe’s Big Five Smash Transfer Window Record                                          Radamel Falcao England and Spain have led a record breaking summer transfer market by Europe's big five leagues worth well over $2 billion (£1.2 billion), with more big deals sealed at the last minutes of  the close of the window last night. Radamel Falcao and Arturo Vidal were among the big names that Real Madrid and Manchester United spent the better part of the $250 million last minute cash splash to pick. "This summer transfer window is one of records," said Dan Jones of the Deloitte consultancy's Sports Business Group. He highlighted that in the last two summer windows more than 20 per cent of English Premier League clubs’ spending occurred on deadline day. "There is still potential for a significant increase" in the record breaking spending already seen, he said. FIFA's transfer monitoring system said that by Sunday, $2.09 billion ha

This will include automatic disqualification of the Super Eagles from defending the Africa Cup of Nations title. However, Giwa has insisted that he will not give up his claim to be Nigeria Football Federation president. In the letter signed by FIFA’s Secretary General, Jerome Valcke, the Emergency Committee of the body had also in the ruling directed that the composition of the Executive Board of the NFF should return to how it was on August 25 befo

Adultery Not Anita Oyakhilome’s Ground for Divorce, Court Papers Show    Facts have emerged at the weekend that the ground on which Pastor Anita Oyakhilome is seeking to divorce her husband, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the President of Believers’ Love World Inc., popularly known as Christ Embassy, is not adultery but on behaviours that suggest that she cannot ‘reasonably be expected’ to  live with him. There had been media reports that Anita decided to divorce Pastor Chris based on allegations of ‘adultery’ and ‘unreasonable behaviours’ but a copy of the  court papers for the divorce process filed at the  Principal Registry of the Family Division (PRFD) of  the High Court of Justice in possession of THISDAY,  revealed that she applied for “divorce on the ground that the marriage has broken down irretrievably.” In her statement of case in support of petition at PRFD with number FD14001650, Pastor Anita however, accused her husband of having inappropriate relations

These were part of the outcomes of a meeting of a global group of experts to assess the experimental therapies that could contain Ebola. West Africa is facing the largest Ebola outbreak in history which has so far claimed 1,089 lives in Liberia, 517 Guinea  and 491 in Sierra Leone. Ijaw Youths Dare Naval Chief to Name Those Involved in Oil Theft

Image
Ijaw Youths Dare Naval Chief to Name Those Involved in Oil Theft The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has asked the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jubrin, to spare the nation the “rhetorics and cover up” in his threat to expose oil companies and security operatives involved in oil theft, daring him to name those culpable. The IYC wondered why companies involved in economic sabotage against the nation and supposed highly placed Nigerians involved in the unwholesome act cannot be exposed by the naval chief, saying the threat was a mere smokescreen to give the impression that the navy is effective. The group in a statement signed by its spokesman, Mr. Eric Omare, insisted that the declaration by the Chief of Naval Staff is nothing but the usual rhetoric of government and security agencies to confuse Nigerians on the problem of oil theft. “We wish to state for the umpteenth time that the people involved in the business of oil scam are top politicians, serving an

The three options to bring back Chibok girls.

The three options to bring back Chibok girls. Former Education Minister and leader of the Bring Back Our Girls Campaign, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili, visited the Lagos Head office of the Vanguard Newspapers, last week, with some members of her group in what can be described as a sustained move to rescue the over 219 Chibok school girls, who were abducted on April 14 by the Boko Haram insurgents. Ezekwesili, who cried for over five minutes during a chat with Vanguard senior editors, said she and her group would not stop the campaign until the girls were rescued. She dismissed as balderdash insinuations that joblessness is responsible for her campaign, and the campaign is politically-motivated and being funded by opponents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Federal Government. With her during the visit were Mrs Wonu Folami (former Lagos State Attorney General), Mrs Sekinat Yusuf (former Lagos education commissioner), Maureen Iyasele, Dr M. Adefeso and Debola Williams among others. How b
